Welcome back to the 2010-2011 school year! I am very excited to continue to teach my 7th and 8th grade students this year as well, and very eager to meet my new 6th grade students. Together, we will make communication in French a natural, enjoyable, and rewarding experience for all. In order to achieve a deeper understanding of the language, we will use a variety of lessons that will enable all of the students to learn communicative skills, through simple materials in visual contexts. We will frequently use skits, role-play, and games to act out our daily lessons. These methods will develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing French, and will be focused on differentiated instruction. Cultural connections will be constantly built into the
various lesson components as well. Since language and culture are so intimately tied, everything we do in our class will help us understand the diversity and richness of the Francophone world. People who have studied two cultures have a more flexible understanding of everyday life, and a vision that enables them to see in depth, and from a different perspective. This new perspective is a big gain for my students, since they will learn that there are several ways to analyze and utilize any situation in life. Good luck with your studies this year! Bonne chance!
