November Newsletter
6th  grade
We will soon begin our second rotation of the FLEX program. My French students will be going to Latin with Mrs. Dale and my Spanish students will be going to German with Frau Joyce. I’m sure they will enjoy these “new” languages as much as they did French /Spanish.
It has been fun working with the first term students.  We accomplished a lot in the first 10 weeks of school.  They can now engage in short conversations asking names, age, where they are from and how they are doing. They also learned some numbers and about where Spanish or French is spoken in the world.  My French group then concentrated on clothing and French fashion while my Spanish group looked at sports and leisure activities. This is just some of the things in store for the next group,
It’s wonderful how quickly students at this age pick up a new language!!

7th grade
The 7th grade classes are off to a great start.  They have discovered that they have remembered a lot from last year. They have also completed a project on some of the countries where Spanish is spoken. They have started to look at how the language itself works. Soon, they will be learning their first verb and then comparing how nouns and adjectives differ from ones in English. Soon they will be able to describe themselves, others and things in Spanish!!

8th  grade
The 8th grade classes are doing well.  After an extensive review of the basic from last year, they are now building on that information to expand their knowledge of the Spanish language  Upcoming topics include learning how to ask questions, and saying where one is going.  Mexico City will provide the cultural component.
The 8th graders will also have the opportunity to correspond to students learning English in Spain.  This will provide a great chance to practice their Spanish.
