Academic Coach

Welcome to Mrs. Peternell's Academic Coach
& Transitional Skills Class

"To succeed we must first believe we can."

In order to become a successful student you must:

Be Organized:
-Use your agenda book on a daily basis
-Separate subjects into different binders (color code)
-Take the time to clean out your binder, but hold on to any important papers.
-Create a checklist each day to decide what you need to bring home and back to school.

Complete Homework:
-Homework is used as practice and reinforces what students learn in their classroom.
-Homework should be a top priority at home.
*set aside time specifically for homework
*have a quiet area away from distractions
Manage your time:
-Students are busy after school, whether it is a sport, instrument or volunteering.
-Set up a schedule where you can show both your social and educational activities (homework and study time)

Ask Questions:
-Do not be afraid to ask teachers questions about anything that may seem unclear.

Your Team Website is the place to look for homework and websites that may be helpful when having trouble with homework.

My main goal is to help all of you, the students, reach your academic goals this year, but in order to do so we must work together each and everyday.  The two most important words I want to mention are Respect and Responsibility.  These two "R's" are the groundwork of my classroom.

Respect- Respect for others.
              Respect for property
              Respect for yourself.

Responsibility- Only you are responsible for your work and materials. I expect each and every one of you to come to my class on time and with the right materials.

If all of us can remember these two "R's" everyday we can count on a successful school year!!
