ABOUT US |
The Middle School Choral Program is arranged much differently than the elementary school. Students in grades 6 - 8 must sign-up to participate in our vocal ensemble. The middle school choral program consists of sixth through eighth grade students. Combined grades perform concerts in the winter, mid-winter, and late spring as well as the occasional “road trip”. Seventh and eighth grade singers are also encouraged to audition for the Massachusetts Eastern District ensembles and perform at various other venues throughout the school year. |
WHO CAN JOIN? |
Chorus is for anyone who enjoys singing or would like to learn to sing better. All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are welcome to join with no audition requirements. However, attendance is expected for ALL rehearsals as well as participation in the scheduled concerts throughout the school year. Success depends on each students personal commitment.
There is a one-time $50 activity fee for all students participating in the school chorus. This money will allow us to run a full schedule of an in-school music choral program. Checks should be made payable to "Westford Public Schools". |
BENEFITS OF SINGING |
Did you know that proper singing exercises our lungs? It also tones up our intercostal muscles and our diaphragm. Singing can improve our sleep and benefit our hearts and circulation by improving our aerobic capacity and decreasing muscle tension. Please be sure to perform a physical & vocal warm-up before every practice session. |
