Key Dates
Fall Season
X-Country is open to grades 6-8. Boys and Girls Soccer is open to grades 7,8.
Winter Season
Basketball is open to grades 7,8.
Spring Season
Track is open to grades 6-8. Baseball and Softball is open to grades 7,8.
Informational meetings will take place before tryouts. Generally, practices and games will be Mon. - Thurs. Middle school sport policy is to try to have no Friday games or practices.
ACTIVITY FEE
The activity fee will be $225.00 for each student. The fee is collected by the coach and due before the first regular season event. The fee is for 1 (one) season and the same fee will be due for winter and spring programs. Checks should be made out to the Town of Westford.
PHYSICALS
Each student is required to have had a physical within thirteen months of the start of the season and provide proof of validity. In order for the physical to be valid for the current season, the physical should have been completed after 8/1/08. Please make sure that the school nurses have a current, valid proof of physical on file at the nurses office if your son/daughter intends to try out.
EMERGENCY FORMS
students are required to provide emergency medical information to their coach for use in the event of an emergency. Emergency and Health Forms (same as Westford Academy forms) Students must present copies of these forms for the first day of tryouts.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided for all teams to out of town events. Parents are responsible to transport students within town to practices and/or events. Students must ride the bus to and from away events. Parents must provide the coach written permission 24 hours in advance in order to take their child home from an away event.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Students who fail a course are not eligible to participate in athletics. Eligibility may be restored if a student passes all courses on the next report card issue. The administration reserves the right to discipline, suspend, or remove students for behavioral or academic reasons.
