MISSION STATEMENT

The goal of our newly formed Student Leadership Council is to engage as many students as possible in having the experience of leadership in some capacity while at Stony Brook School. We are combining the activities of the former student council and peer leadership groups. We hope to engage students in school leadership, peer leadership, and community service while having fun. Students learn these things best by experiencing it themselves with the help of adult role models.
Ann Leary
The Student Leadership Council is asking for each homeroom teacher to have students pick/vote for/self-appoint one or two homeroom reps to attend SLC meetings and bring back information to their homerooms.  The students will be recognized as members of the Student Leadership Council and will have the opportunity to attend a conference/ meetings/ plan dances/ organize spirit days/ be school ambassadors to our guests (speakers, fifth graders etc.)/be on the Green Team........  We are looking for students who want to be involved and are willing to attend at least one meeting a month.

Please email DEB BARSEL when you have the name(s) of your representatives.  If any of the students have questions, please have them go to Julie Ewing, Dianna Fulreader or Deb Barsel.

Got Leaders?
The Green Team

The Green Team has formulated the 2008 - 2009 recycling plan layout for Stony Brook. We would like to ask that each homeroom selects one students to bring their class recycling bin to the larger ones in the Common Room, and empty it. This will help make sure that Stony Brook does it's part in helping the environment. The Green Team thinks that every student who wants to help the environment and recycle should have a chance to participate. Therefore, we ask the teachers to pick a different student each month. Every student who takes part will be rewarded with 2 Panther Cards
